Forget sweater weather…it’s leather weather!
But I’m kidding. You can wear leather at any time of the year. The only limit is the weather and your comfort level!
Leather outfits are a lot more versatile than most women realize. You can make a leather outfit as edgy or as elegant as you want.
Sure, I have a leather jacket (a closet staple, of course), leather pants, and I even have a pair of those awesome faux leather leggings from Spanx.
If you are going to add a leather piece to your wardrobe this fall/winter, I highly recommend adding a leather dress. It’s one of the fall fashion must haves—see the others here.

What’s the first thing you think of when you hear leather dress? I know what I thought of! The tight black leather dress like the one Kim K. wore, skin tight and uncomfortable looking, but sexy. Definitely sexy. Followed closely behind this by a red leather dress as part of a sexy devil costume.
But not all leather dresses are bodycon or over the top. There is a wide selection of dresses made out of leather that are all colors of the rainbow, including blue, or white, or even in snakeskin prints. There are long sleeve leather dresses as well as strapless leather dresses, and everything in between.
Point being, you don’t have to be a celebrity or a dominatrix to wear a leather dress!
I found this amazing leather dress from Vince. It’s a beautiful, supple lambskin in the color Dahlia Wine. It’s crewneck and a little above the knee on me. The zipper was challenging to tackle on my own, but I got it.
It’s great on its own! In this first look, I’ve paired the dress with another fabulous piece, leopard print booties. This simple leather outfit is classy and chic. The dress is paneled, and slim-fitting, but not tight. Shop this fabulous leather dress here!

Here, in the second look, I’ve added what might be yet another of my favorite items from fall/winter fashion: the trench coat. This trench coat from Long Tall Sally is the perfect complement to the deep wine color of the leather dress.
If you like this trench, it also comes in navy, and you can find it here.

This is one of the leather dresses that I would have no problem wearing to the office. Here’s another choice for your leather outfit inspiration. If you want to make it really conservative, you can add a tailored white shirt underneath. It gives this particular leather outfit a preppy look, and you can wear a comfy loafer or other flats if you’re on your feet all day.

Another leather dress outfit idea that I have is similar to wearing the dress with a button-down, but you could choose to wear a turtle neck or mock neck.
I hope that I’ve helped to demystify how you can wear your leather dress. Now find your own leather dress to rock!
